Thank You for a Powerful Carers Week 2025
We celebrated, listened and reimagined what care can look like.
Thank You for Making Carers Week 2025 Unforgettable
During this year’s Carers Week, we witnessed what happens when visibility, compassion and action come together.
Chelsea, Anne, Levi and Sally at the Carers Week Launch at Luton Town Hall
Over five days, unpaid carers across Luton shared stories, connected with local services, and made time for their own wellbeing, many for the first time in a long while. And thanks to the support of our partners, funders and volunteers, we were able to say clearly: your role matters, and you are not alone.
What We Shared
From heartfelt conversations to expert-led sessions, this week offered a space to reflect, recharge and reconnect.
Highlights included:
A launch event at Luton Town Hall with Luton Borough Council and Cllr Basit Mahmood
Honest and inspiring lived-experience stories from local parent carers
Practical workshops on contingency planning and wellbeing
Engagement with NHS partners and Luton Council commissioners
Carers’ Info Day, offering real-time support and resources
Moments of laughter, connection and care over tea, cake and conversation
Why This Week Matters
Unpaid carers face higher risks of financial hardship, isolation and mental ill-health. This is not because they care, but because the systems around them aren’t always fair.
This year’s Carers Week theme, Caring About Equality, challenged us all to do better.
At Carers Central and the Disability Resource Centre, we are building towards a future where carers have:
A clear and trusted first point of contact
Tailored, joined-up support services
Stronger recognition in health, employment and community spaces
Carers shouldn’t be an afterthought. They should be part of the blueprint.
Thank You
To every carer who joined us: thank you for showing up for yourself, and for others.
To our partners, funders and guests: thank you for your commitment to listening, learning and taking action.
To our team and volunteers: your compassion is the foundation of this work.
